1. New Second District Commander Paul Noel

Although no NONPACC meeting will be held this month due to Mardi Gras, the Second District’s new Commander, Paul Noel, invited neighborhood representatives to learn about him and his future plans on Tuesday night.  About twenty people attended the informal meet and greet and Noel gave everyone an opportunity to introduce him or herself and identify the neighborhood they represented and problems their neighborhoods are experiencing.  Here are a few highlights about Commander Noel and what was discussed at the meeting: This will be Noel’s third post in the Second District, an area of the city where he has spent about half of his career.  He began as a patrolman and later served as commander of the District Investigative Unit.  Noel said he would demand three things from his officers—a commitment to aggressive police work, a commitment to citizen satisfaction, and a resolve not to embarrass the organization.  Noel also made the following request of citizens in the Second District in order to help NOPD do a better job.  First, report suspicious activity immediately to 821-2222.  Be as detailed as possible when making a report and indicate whether you would like to speak to an officer after the activity is investigated.  Second, report any instance where you feel that you received poor service from NOPD.  Call the Second District headquarters (658-6020) and ask to speak to a supervisor.  Finally, please be sure to also report positive experiences, which will serve as a source of pride for the individual officers as well motivation for other officers to do a good job.  I will be attending the NONPACC again in March so please voice any comments or concerns so that I can address them with Commander Noel.  Commander Noel can also be contacted directly by email at pmnoel@nola.gov .

  3. Welcome New 2nd District Commander

NOPD recently announced that Cdr. Paul Noel - formerly head of Criminal Investigations Division - has been chosen to serve as commander of Second District.  He replaces interim commanders Montalbano and Adams, who had filled the position since the promotion of Daryl Albert to the rank of Deputy Superintendent last year.  Noel “vows to make armed robbery a number-one priority” throughout the patrol district.
