Anonymous asked: Anyone know what all of the orange markings on the neutral ground and street on Nashville are for? Is it about to get road work?
A: Yes. Both Nashville and Fontainebleau are scheduled for extensive remediation (most of it FEMA-funded). The SSD and BIA organizations are attempting to discover the exact scope and timing of repairs. Stay tuned!

Some concrete was recently torn up here (center in photo). SSD will continue working with Code Enforcement to determine whether the paving being done at 3114 Nashville adheres to statutory guidelines (i.e. no more than 40% coverage of the first 20 ft. of property).

100% Paved Property on Nashville
The property at 3114 Nashville (currently under construction) has just been paved 100% from front to back, side to side. So much impermeable concrete coverage is generally discouraged, as it leads to unwanted water runoff during rains, and contributes to the urban heat island effect.

SSD is in communication with Safety & Permits, the Zoning Commission, and City Council to determine whether such extensive paving (e.g. semi-circular driveway plus two wide alleyways, pictured) is currently permitted in Orleans Parish.

Anonymous asked: Will this another ridiculously oversized duplex/Ravi special that he has put up all around our neighborhood? Has he already gotten waivers before anyone hears about the construction as usual?
A: Mr. Doddamani and his wife together own several other properties (list1 list2), including a block away on S. Johnson Street and Melody Court, according to NOLAassessor.com. If you wish to review the construction permits for 3114 Nashville, they are online here, and indicate a two-story, 4000-sq. ft. double standing 24 ft. tall.
Coincidentally, his sister-in-law, Sulochana Mandhare (formerly of Melodia Ct.) and her business partner, attorney Allen Borne, Jr., have had ownership interest in a couple other noteworthy properties here: 5801-03 Fontainebleau [before / after] and 4121 State [current] (the latter remains blighted, entangled in a protracted ownership dispute). -
