Gardening: The Promise of Compost
Calling all gardeners! Ready to take your love for all things botanical to the next level? One of my pet projects for 2012 is to establish a community composting station. You know the concept: Instead of tossing our kitchen waste, grass clippings, leaves, catkins and pine needles into landfills and storm drains, I’d like to convert them all into rich, humic soil that gardeners can use. For FREE.
Follow me as I hatch my plan, won’t you?
Send an email to garden@statestreetdrive.com — I’ll jot your name down and keep you apprised of upcoming developments. (This is gonna take some effort, so prepare to roll up those sleeves and get your gloves dirty with me…)
For now, dive into the conversation on NeighborLand about urban composting in New Orleans. And check out this upbeat Gambit article about NOLA Green Roots project at Loyola. It’s time our neighborhood joined the composting revolution!
