1. "Happily, a steady plume of hot steam now rises from the compost pile at Bloomingdale Garden (Johnson @ Melodia), signifying progress … smells divine. Keep tossing in those bags of leaves and grass for now — we’ll get more creative after this first batch is done!"

Gather up any “soft” yard waste — leaves, grass, sand, soil,
pine straw, etc. – then drop off bagged items as shown above.
You are also welcome to add directly to the pile

Please DO NOT include any animal waste, woody stems,
kitchen scraps, vines, pine cones or noxious weeds.  Thanks!
Let’s show the City that it’s better for yard waste to be
recycled into useful soil instead of tossed in a landfill
or blown into catch basins, causing clogged drains.

P.S. Does your lawncare service leave bags curbside?
Let me know when, and I’ll be happy to pick ‘em up!

  5. Recycle those Mardi Gras throws!

The STRIVE Center at 1139 Napoleon Avenue (between Prytania St. and Magazine St., on the riverside corner) accepts EVERYTHING (beads, cups, doubloons, stuffed toys, etc.).

Deliver your stash during the day (no appointment necessary) and someone inside will help carry the bags or boxes inside.  Items do not have to be sorted.
